About the Springfield Research Center

The Springfield Research Center provides researchers in southwest Missouri access to collections of The State Historical Society of Missouri (SHSMO). Most materials, including manuscript collections, rare books, and microfilm, located at SHSMO research centers around Missouri can be delivered to the Springfield center.

The center is a cooperative effort between SHSMO and the Missouri State University Libraries. The Springfield Research Center is located in Special Collections and Archives at Duane G. Meyer Library.

Requesting Collections

Researchers may request up to three boxes at a time, but this may be reduced during times of heavy use.

Collections will be transferred to the Springfield Research Center twice each month and be available until the next transfer date unless prior arrangements are made.

  • Locate the collection on the SHSMO website.
  • Complete a request form for the material. Note box numbers or folder identifications when possible.

Delivery Schedule

Appointments can currently be made for the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.
