Ozarks Lesbian and Gay Archives
In October of 2003, Missouri State University professors Holly Baggett and Ralph Smith, in cooperation with the Missouri State University Libraries, Lambda Alliance, and BiGala, formally established the Ozarks Lesbian and Gay Archives (OLGA). The collection continues to grow through donations by various members of the community.
OLGA’s mission is to document the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) experience in the Ozarks region. The Archives is comprised of a number of individual collections, including the following:
- Ozarks Lesbian and Gay Archives Collection (M 18)
- Ozarks Lesbian and Gay Archives Oral History Collection (M 19)
- Drag Queen/King Photograph Collection (currently unprocessed; contact Archives for details)
- Bisexual Gay & Lesbian Alliance (BIGALA) Records (currently unprocessed; contact Archives for details)
Special Collections and Archives encourages prospective donors to assist in preserving this aspect of Ozarkiana by donating their materials to the Ozarks Lesbian and Gay Archives. More information on the types of materials collected can be found in this flier. Contact the Archives to learn more.
